Sports C.I.T.I. Scholastic Achievement Award Application 

     Sports C.I.T.I. gives recognition to those players who not only show their athletic talents on the court or playing field, but also show their talents and hard work in the classroom.  Sports C.I.T.I. will recognize athletes who participate in their Academy who achieve a 3.0 (B/comparable) grade point average for the first and second grading periods.

     A copy of both report cards, with the form below, must be postmarked by the second Saturday in February.  No late forms will be processed.

     All registered players, grades 9 through 12, are eligible to apply for this recognition.

Procedure

Ø  Information is to be distributed by coaches to players (or parents) at the initial parent/team meeting. 

Ø  Parent or player must submit a copy of the player’s report card from the first grading period of the year by the second Saturday of February.

Ø  Awards are distributed to coaches who, in turn, distribute awards to eligible players.  Expect awards by mid-March.

Ø  The award traditionally consists of a recognition certificate and an entry to win free attendance at a local summer sports camp.

Ø  Parent/Guardian signs form (below).

Ø  Return application and copy of report card with postmark no later than the second Saturday in February.

Sports C.I.T.I. 3D Award

     Most of us know from firsthand experience and through observation that sports can build character.  Sports are designed to provide many benefits for its participants beyond the mere enjoyment and thrill of the game.  We know that sports can be a bridge for teaching young athletes some important life skill lessons which can be integrated into every aspect of their lives.

     Through our experience of playing sports, we have developed a sense of discipline, dedication and desire that we put into everything we do – on and off the field of play.  Those 3D’s have played an important role in our success in life. 

     Our goal is to recognize those athletes who often times go unnoticed.  So much attention is given to individual player statistics like points, touchdowns, assist, passing and rushing yards that fans fail to realize that half of most games are spent on defense; and that it takes a great deal of discipline, dedication and desire to constantly exert initiative on defense.  A player’s awareness of the importance of defense can not be overestimated.  We believe that athletes need to work as hard, if not harder on defense than offense.   

     For those reasons, it is our plan to present an award to the top defensive players in the Minneapolis City Conference as recognized by the coaches.  If you have players that exemplify the kind of discipline, dedication and desire it take to be a great defensive player please take a moment to complete the form below.   

     It is our hope that we have a large number of athletes identified on our list, but realize there are many more who still may go unnoticed in our efforts.
